Hello. Happy almost-end-of-March. I’m having writer’s block and can’t think of any charming stories or witty pieces of advice for this week’s post, so instead, here’s a list of things I hope I never get tired of — and, you know what? It was oddly therapeutic and even a little challenging coming up with this list. So, maybe I do have some advice (because I’m bossy like that): Try coming up with your list of things you hope to treasure forever, and then actively add those things into your day-to-day life. I know that’s what I’ll be doing with mine (‘specially that first one).
A good glass of wine. Or three.
Listening to live music.
People-watching in airports.
Homemade sundaes.
A sweaty yoga class with good music.
Cracking bad jokes, even if they only make one person laugh. (Even if that one person is me.)
A freshly cleaned home.
Handwritten notes.
A great happy hour.
Worshipping on Sunday mornings.
Baking.
Trips to Target.
Long runs in spring sunshine.
Off-the-shoulder blouses.
Giant, savory breakfasts.
Walks with my dog (when my dog actually decides to behave herself and not herd me/cars).
Trying new restaurants. And wineries. And breweries.
Mom jeans. (There was never, ever a comfier style of jeans.)
A fully checked-off to-do list.
Never wearing heels higher than three (okay, four at MOST) inches.
Red lipstick.
Coconut milk lattes.
Athleisure.
Road trips.
Walkable neighborhoods.
Browsing Zillow/Realtor.com for houses I absolutely cannot afford anytime soon.
Charcuterie boards.
Playlists that accurately depict my mood.
Productive mornings.
BLOUSE (sold out; similar here, here, here, here, and here) // JEANS // SHOES // LIPSTICK (in “Pure Red”) // SUNGLASSES
Love that red stripe on the wall with this top. These photos are lovely 🙂
Great list! XO
Thanks, girl! It was a fun look to put together; glad you liked it!!
Hi Audrey!
Fellow magazine editor, here. I’m also from Dallas. I found your blog while creeping on you after reading one of your D Magazine articles (forever ago), and I’ve been lurking here ever since. You are probably beyond creeped out right now, but I just wanted to say I really admire your authenticity. So many other lifestyle bloggers honestly have crap writing (Can I say that since we’re both editors?) and a bunch of fluff, but I really look forward to reading your stuff when you have a new post up. I too thoroughly enjoy only wearing heels with a MAX 4-inch heel height. Probably one of the main reasons I moved out of Dallas. Keep writing!
I am absolutely, 1,000-percent NOT creeped out right now. In fact, this comment from you, the kindest stranger I’ve met (no matter that it’s via the internet) in a long time, couldn’t have come at a better time. I needed to see, read, hear, accept these words you wrote today. I wish I could express how deeply grateful I am to you for writing this comment; as a writer, editor, and creative, you certainly understand the lulls and lows that can come with our sort of career path, and I’ve been working through a bit of that myself lately. So, again (I could say it a million more times, but I think you’ve got the point), THANK YOU. Also, I really appreciate your equal devotion to low-high heels.
