Blanket sweaters are my love language. If they were a man, I’d have to seriously consider marrying them (sorry, John). If I were able to pull off using the word “bae,” they’d be bae. I tried the other day and said something along the lines of, “Oh, that restaurant is so bae,” and my best friend turned and stared at me for five seconds before bursting into laughter. Trend words aren’t for everyone, I guess.
I digress. Blanket sweaters — which I’m sure is not the actual fashion term for big, comfy sweaters, but it most aptly describes the style to me, so hey, blanket sweaters it is — are basically any oversized cardigan that can simply double as a blanket. And they’re wonderful.
Wrap up in one at work and feel a little more cozy in the office, make casual a dressier shift-dress with the addition of the cover-up, double it as a pillow on a plane or train. Opt for wrapping up in one post-bath for the toastiest and snuggliest robe you’ve ever experienced. Throw it over a relaxed tee and jeans for a dressed down look. Use the sleeve as a mock Kleenex when you’re in a pinch during runny-nose season. I mean, the options for versatility are truly limitless.
If you don’t have at least one of these in your closet as we approach winter, we might have to do a little life-reevaluating, and then shopping.
Thank you to my dear friend Sarah Cook for spending a fun Saturday afternoon with me taking these photos! If anyone is looking for a talented photographer in North Texas, she’s your gal. Email me at audrey@audreyjoann.com if you’d like her contact info!
